January 10th - Ready for launch

10-9-8-7-6-5-4-3-2-1 BLAST OFF!!!

January 1st - Happy New Year!

Today we celebrated Christmas with the Baccus family. It was fun to have all the kids running around and playing together. We were entertained with a variety of puppet shows. Papa had hung some swings in the big tree and the kids loved swinging. Nana led all the kids in an edible craft project where they made cute little snowmen with marshmallows. We all had a great time!

December 31th - Home again

We flew home today and it was time for Christmas in Houston. Santa left some great gifts for the boys including a train table. I had fun setting up the train tracks while the boys played with their toys.


The boys got some fun stuff from Joel and Katherine - a pizza and cake to decorate and serve.

December 30th - Day 12 of Minnesota Christmas trip

Today we went to the Mall of America and visited the aquarium, Underwater Adventures. It is the largest underground aquarium in the world. Much of the aquarium was viewed through tunnels that you walk through, which is pretty neat. We had sharks and stingrays flying right over us.







We went to a Cantina at the Mall for lunch. The restaurant was on the 4th floor overlooking the amusement park. It was a great view. The boys shared quesadillas, but Charlie ate all of the rice and beans. When he was done, he turned sideways in his booster seat and leaned back into me with his hands on his belly. I think it might be time to teach him how to say, "Uff da!"

December 29th - Day 11 of Minnesota Christmas trip

Poor Charlie is sick. He fell asleep on the floor and slept for hours.

December 27th - Day 9 of Minnesota Christmas trip

We had a nice visit with my friends Will & Nancy and their 3 kids. They have twins that are Jack's age and an older son too. The kids had a great time playing while the adults were chatting.



December 26th - Day 8 of Minnesota Christmas trip

Most of our trip was pretty cold in Minnesota, but today it got up to about 35 degrees, so we took the opportunity to play outside. The boys all had a great time, and Ronny made a great snowman.









A few days before Christmas, an apartment building that is just a few blocks from Grandma's house, had a catastrophic fire. It was so sad that so many people lost EVERYTHING right before Christmas. The day after the fire, someone anonymously donated a million dollars, which was divided among the families that lived there. I think each family was going to get about $17k on Christmas Eve. It was amazing to drive by and see what was left after the fire trucks poured water on the building for hours. A few cars were caked in ice.


December 25th - Day 7 of Minnesota Christmas trip

I guess I tried to use the Santa blackmail a little too much this season. (You know, if you aren't good, all you will get in your stocking is a piece of coal.) When we all woke up Christmas morning, Ronny told Jack that we were going upstairs to see what Santa left us in our stockings. Jack said very sadly, "Did I get a piece of coal?"

Jack was very surprised to see that Santa had consumed the cookie and milk we left out last night.


Here Jack is putting Charlie to bed on Grandma's love seat. He covered him up and patted him while counting to 20 just like we do at home.

Ah, blue candy canes...


The boys had lots of fun making a gingerbread house.



December 24th - Day 6 of Minnesota Christmas trip

I guess Rusty got a booboo and needed Mr. Bump.

Jack got creative with a toy shuttle and airplane - recreating a scene from a few weeks ago.

Charlie wanted to wear all of the Santa hats at once.

The boys took a little nap.

Then later it was time to open Christmas presents. We all got lots of good stuff and the boys were ready to start playing right away.




One of the favorite toys was Marble Run. All of the boys loved putting it together and running marbles down in different ways.
