November 12th - Sunbathing

Charlie is a bit jaundiced, so he gets tanned near an open window every day.

November 11th - New hoodie

Jack got a new cute hoodie from Grandma. I pulled his hood up and his ears popped out like Yoda.

When the hood was pulled down, Jack hair flew out.

November 5th - Who is cute?

Jack is having a bit of a hard time with his new sibling. He seems to accept the fact that Charlie needs a lot of care from his Mama, but sometimes he gets jealous when Daddy or Grandma holds Charlie. He says, "Mama do it! Mama do it!" Jack has his share of tender moments with Charlie, though. We share a good laugh at the funny noises Charlie makes. He likes pointing out Charlie's little facial features - nose, eyes, and mouth. He keeps saying that Charlie is cute. He says that over and over, which is so endearing. Jack is pretty cute himself. He tried on Daddy's shoes this morning and looked so adorable.

November 4th - Breaking out of jail

After Dr. Quillin's final check of Charlie, we were finally able to escape out of the hospital.

November 3rd - Hanging out with Charlie

November 2nd - Introducing Charlie

Charles Arthur Baccus (Charlie for short) was born on November 2nd at 2:18pm after 11 hours of labor. He weighed a surprising 9 pounds and 3.6 ounces and measured 21 inches long.

October 31st - Happy Halloween

October 28th - The bassinet

Grandma brought down the bassinet that was used for all of her children. She thought it would be fun if Jack helped Daddy put it together for the baby. It all started out well. Jack liked playing around the pieces and then pretending that he was using a screwdriver to put the pieces together. Then he enjoyed laying on the mattress with his baby. He even patted the baby's back like his teachers pat his back at naptime. But when all was said and done and the bassinet was put together, Jack was NOT happy that it wasn't for him.

September 29th - Quite a shiner

Today I was peeking at Jack on ParentWatch and noticed that one of the substitute teachers was holding Jack. Now Jack is too busy to be held by his favorite teachers, so this seemed odd to me. I glanced at my phone looking for the familiar "Infant 2" on the read out and eventually the call came. He tripped and fell against the corner of a table and split his eyelid open. They wanted me to come take a look. I rushed over, calling the pediatrician's office on the way. They told me what to look for. I called them again when I was with him. I didn't think it looked that bad, but was happy when they suggested bringing him by just to make sure. After waiting for AN HOUR (!!!) we finally got in and a nurse cleaned Jack's wound up. Dr. Quillin took a look at it and determined that they didn't need to glue it or stitch it. So I took Jack back to school in time for a late lunch and a nap. This is what his eye looked like the next day. A week later, the scab was all healed up. You can still see a little pink streak (a month later), but it isn't bad.

Summer Swimming Fun

This summer we took several trips to our neighborhood pool. It was a wonderful way to cool off a bit in the sweltering Houston heat. Mommy also loved to feel a little weightless for a while with her growing belly. Jack loved every aspect of it. We played in the big pool and the kiddie pool. And Jack loved all of the helicopters and airplanes that would fly overhead from nearby Ellington Field.
