October 7th - Outside playtime

The weather is finally getting a little cooler, although the highs are still in the upper 80s. It all means that we are spending a lot more time outside.

October 6th - My pets

So I don't have a dog or a cat or a fish or a hamster, but I do have a nice collection of Io moth caterpillars. They are cute and bright green and fuzzy with a white and red stripe down their sides. They are also somewhat poisonous to touch, which makes them slightly less cute. They ate all of the leaves on a blackberry plant that the birds already ate the berry buds off of. So now I feed them branches of leaves from my trees.

Here is an image of what the Io moth looks like. I hope I get to see one!

October 5th - Airshow Friday

Today was airshow Friday, which is one of my FAVORITE days of the year. The Wings Over Houston airshow is this weekend and they do a practice show on Friday morning. This year, I took the day off and Jack played hooky from school. We had a crazy day and I was exhausted at the end. It went a little like this... Leave the house 30 minutes before the practice show because we are so excited. Strange light illuminates on dashboard lights up as we drive through the neighborhood. Pull over to see what the light means. Hmmm... Very low tire pressure. Drive very carefully to closest gas station, pump quarters into machine, fill up the 3 tires that the hose can reach, noticing that 2 of my valve stem covers are missing. As the last tire is being filled, notice a screw staring back at you - of course in the side wall. Drive to tire store and get tire replaced. $180 later and 20 minutes late, make it to the airfield. Walk around airplanes and watch aerobatic aircraft. Watch Tora Tora Tora! - complete with smoke and (fake) bombs. When show is over, go to lunch at Lupe Tortillas. After lunch, play in the HUGE sandbox for a long long time. After sand, go to the mall for new shoes (for Jack) and towels for the upstairs bathroom. After mall, go back to airfield for Snowbird practice (they are the main event and did not practice in the morning show). Snowbirds are wimps from Canada who are towing their airplanes into the hangar instead of flying them for us. Stop by McDonalds to share some ice cream to top off our fun day. Go pick up Charlie from school. Proceed with rest of day as usual.

September 2nd - Visiting Nana & Papa

On Sunday, we went to visit Nana and Papa in Bellville, TX - their new home. It was a lovely little town and we look forward to going back to explore it more.

We went to a local park and had lots of fun climbing around. Even Charlie had to climb up the steps - his first time doing so.

Cool dude.

August 26th - The Wiggles

We went to see The Wiggles - live in concert. It was fun!

August 24th - End of summer luau

The boy's school had an end of summer luau. The curriculum in Jack's classroom this week revolved around Hawaii - learning Hawaiian songs, where Hawaii is on the map, and of course making a Hawaiian headband and grass skirt. Cute as can be!

August 24th - A trip to the Dentist

August 19th - Happy Birthday Kyle

Today we attended our buddy Kyle's first birthday party. It was at a local community pool and we all had a great time - as you can see by these pictures. The boys loved jumping in (or leaning in) from the edge of the pool.

Here is birthday boy Kyle with his Dad, Jim.

August 18 - New rain boots

August 18th - I wanna rock & roll all night...

Ronny's band, Spastic Hippo 2000 had a gig at the Outpost, so I dressed the boys in their band-supporting guitar T-shirts, courtesy of Auntie Melanie (Thanks Auntie M!!!).

This one is just so Ozzy.

The boys have the same smile in these pictures.
