February 9th - Holding Charlie

February 9th - Mardi Gras parade

They had a Mardi Gras parade at school today. Ronny went to go be with Jack, who is often uncomfortable when there are big events at school. The kids took a turn around the playroom and the cafeteria. The other kids and teachers handed out beads.

February 8th - Stitches

Jack fell at school yesterday and hit his mouth. His mouth was cut inside (top and bottom) and he had a cut about an inch long on the outside right below his lip. Ronny went and grabbed Jack from school and I met them both at the emergency room. I got the call from the school at 3:41pm and we didn't get home until 6 hours later. They ended up giving Jack an IV and sedating him so they could give him some stitches.

The drugs they use to sedate kids are related to LSD and Jack was tripping a bit. I held his hand while they put him under but sat across the room while they stitched him up. (I thought passing out next to my injured son’s gurney would be bad form.) Ronny stood above him and Jack started saying "Daaaddddyyy" really slowly like he was in a dream state. “Daaddddyyy” A bald nurse stood next to Ronny for a while and after he left, Jack said, "Oooone Daaadddddyyy." I guess when the bald nurse was there, Jack thought he saw two Daddies.

The doctor put 4 stitches on the outside of Jack’s lip and 1 stitch on the inside. As soon as Jack started coming around, he started moving his tongue over the inside stitch, which was gone in a matter of minutes.

This morning we went to see a pediatric dentist to get his teeth checked out. Jack wasn't very happy to be examined or get x-rays, but we made it through alright. His teeth were just fine. Then it was back to school for Jack. He was so excited to see his teachers and the other kids, he was practically hyperventilating. We sat with him for a bit while he ate lunch and then told him we have to go back to work. As we were walking out the door, he shouted, "Bye guys!"

February 4th - A visit to the park

The weather was beautiful, so on Sunday we went to the park for a little while. Jack's rosy Charlie Chaplin moustache is a little road rash from running around in the street the other day.

February 3rd - My Aggie boys

After the great picture posted a few weeks ago with my boys in their University of Minnesota duds, I decided it was time to get the boys in their Aggie-wear. I got Daddy in the act too. Charlie was a willing participant, but Jack was a bit cranky. In your mind, picture Jack yelling, "Get up! Get up!" with the second picture below. Charlie is looking at him like he is thinking, "What is your problem, bro?"

February 3rd - Jack and his baby

Last summer, Grandma sent Jack a baby doll to get him used to the idea of having a baby around. Sometimes Jack gets very attached to his baby. Here he is in the rocking chair with the baby and doing puzzles with the baby. He also tossed the baby in Charlie's crib and turned on the mobile for baby to watch. He twirled each animal as they went by telling baby what they were, "Red bird... blue turtle..."

February 1st - Brothers

I had Charlie on the floor on a blanket so we could practice him rolling over. He refuses to nap more than 35 minutes at a time and I think it will get better when he can sleep on his tummy. Of course having a baby sleep on their tummy is a no-no these days unless the baby can roll over, so roll-over training has begun. Jack went for a "walk-a-stroller" with Grandma and had to join Charlie on return. Below, you can see Jack's look of amusement and surprise when Charlie happens to grab his shirt. Grandma and Mommy laughed pretty hard.

February 1st - Smiley Charlie

Charlie is quite a smiley baby. His previous picture postings don't reflect his happy nature as much as they should. We get a lot of these big smiles!

Sometimes he finds his fingers, which at times are quite tasty and other times cause his face to scrunch up like he sucked on a lemon. This time he looks a little startled.

January 16th - Welcome Home Uncle Joel!

We are very happy that Uncle Joel (BoBo) is finally back from his six-month deployment to Afghanistan. We are very thankful for his hard work as a warrior - helping to save the world. We hope he and Auntie Katherine will come visit us soon.

January 14th - Happy Birthday Kaiden!

We had a great time at our buddy Kaiden's second birthday party on Sunday. When we left, as we were walking to the car, Jack said, "FUN!!!" I think that says it all.

Here is Kaiden trying to eat the bubbles. All of the kids went CRAZY when they turned on the bubble machine. Everybody loves bubbles!

Charlie was pretty pooped by the end of the party, but he was a trooper!

January 13th - Go Gophers!

Jack and Charlie were wearing their University of Minnesota shirts that they got from Aunt Holly and Uncle Ryan for Christmas. Aren't they cute?

Grandma helps us out all of the time. The boys love her to death! She came over tonight so Mommy and Daddy could go out on a date. YIPPEE!

Jack found Charlie's empty juice bottle and enjoyed sucking on some juice-flavored air. Everyone likes to be babied every now and then.

January 12th - Playing outside

Jack has been playing outside a lot lately. He tends to eat better and sleep better when he does, which is good for all of us. He took a break from running around the other day to check on Charlie. He stuck a finger in Charlie's pacifier and pulled it out, which made us laugh. I found these super cute hats for the boys at Old Navy. They say, "LUCKY O'DAYS BOYS CLUB. GIRLS NOT ALLOWED. MOMS ARE OKAY." I couldn't resist.

January 11th - Hanging out on the airplane

January 7th - Mom and Charlie

January 6th

Here are my boys in their cowboy outfits.

January 4th - Another picture on the play mat

I just can't resist. It is so cute when Jack wants to lie down on the mat next to Charlie. And Charlie is starting to look around a lot more - especially at big brother Jack.
